All CSA [collective sales agreements] are now void

Tan Cheng Soing [architect of Pearlbank], now 70 and still actively designing, hopes the building will be preserved. “A large part of what we build is replaceable and mundane. But each era has its memory and icons and architecture is the proud expression of the time. Pearlbank is unique and special to me in many ways. It was born of a heroic period when Singapore was searching for its place in the sun.” see the full story from The Financial Times here | print pdf version

Don't buy into a strata-titled property if you do not want to be forced to sell your home. Current laws do not ensure you will be able to live in your condominium unit until your dying days.....Most countries in the world allow this basic right, why can't we?  - Sunday Times June 1st 2008

"Profit is the main driving motive in today's architectural conservation so it comes as a surprise when someone like designer Ed Poole emerges. The poster boy for the iconic horse-shoe shaped Pearlbank apartment block is ardent about fighting efforts to sell the building en-block. He appreciates the unusual architecture of his penthouse on the 37th story too much to see it disappear forever should the sale succeed. We hope he stops the bulldozer".
