26 | 09 | 04 Painting of the exterior Shanghai plaster at the outer rim of Pearlbank was REJECTED at the 25th AGM on 26th September 2004. The current Council + MA brought in a paint contractor that wants to use Pearlbank as an experiment for a new painting system never used in Singapore on this type of surface. LOGIC RULES ! as the plan was rejected. The Subsidiary Proprietors $240,000 stays in the bank. The quoted web site by the paint contractor does not exist. Funds are now available for critical lift upgrades and further studies for a major exterior face lift. Some residence express a desire to clad the building with metal panels, redevelop the car park block to house commercial spaces and construction of a new swimming pool, tennis court and BBQ area on the car park roof, to be financed by the renting out of 16,000 sq ft of prime void space [converted to residential] on level 28. These are long term plans towards the goal of having the 99yr leasehold renewed. ![]()
Pearlbank with curved white metal panels suspended in front of the existing facade to form a slick new layer - masking aircon units and placing the miss-matched windows into shadow to minimize the effects of their various colors and designs.
Pearlbank hugs the Pearl's Hill Park. Miss-matched window frames, aircon units and other anomalies added over the years have marred the futuristic digital-like facade.
Pearlbank with new curved metal panel system masking the plumbing risers, giving the facade a smooth, cleaner, and more futuristic look.
Continued water seepage from some units that have not renovated toilets will not effect the new facade.
